About the Role
Our client, a leading multinational medical device organisation, is seeking a Manufacturing / Design & Development Engineer to join their Galway-based team on a 12-month contract.
This opportunity is ideal for a graduate engineer or an engineer in the early stages of their career who is looking to gain valuable experience in manufacturing engineering, process development, and continuous improvement within a highly regulated environment.
The successful candidate will support manufacturing operations, drive process improvements, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient and compliant production processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical and sustaining engineering support within a manufacturing environment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and yield enhancement.
- Recommend and implement equipment, tooling, fixture, and process improvements.
- Assist in the development, optimisation, and transfer of manufacturing processes into production.
- Collaborate with R&D, quality, and manufacturing teams to support new product introduction activities.
- Conduct process investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Support equipment installation, qualification, and validation activities.
- Develop and apply statistical process control methodologies where appropriate.
- Prepare and maintain engineering documentation and technical reports.
- Ensure compliance with quality systems, regulatory requirements, and company procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Strong understanding of engineering and manufacturing principles.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Desirable
- Previous experience within medical devices, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or another regulated manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to process development, manufacturing engineering, or product development activities.
- Knowledge of:
- Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Lean Manufacturing methodologies
- Validation and qualification processes
- Root Cause Analysis tools and techniques
