Flexsource NI are working in partnership with the Agrifood and Bioscience Institute (AFBI) to hire Livestock Sustainability Modeller in the Hillsborough area
This role is temporary part time, working up to 22.2 hours per week for 7 months, with possible extension.
Main Duties:
Conduct innovative research to evaluate and improve the sustainability of livestock production systems, addressing environmental, economic and production challenges facing the agricultural sector.
Develop, apply and refine livestock sustainability models to assess the impacts of farming practices and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and reduced environmental footprint.
Analyse complex biological, environmental and agricultural datasets to generate evidence-based insights that support industry, policy and scientific decision-making.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality research with real-world impact across the agri-food sector.
Publish research findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals and contribute to AFBI's international research profile through presentations at conferences, workshops and industry events.
Translate research outcomes into practical recommendations that support sustainable livestock farming and inform future agricultural policy and practice.
Criteria:
A PhD in a relevant field and 2 years experience, OR and undergraduate degree in a relevant area and 4 years experience
Ability to disseminate research findings, as evidenced by a minimum of 2 peer-reviewed articles published in a scientific journals as the first author
Demonstrable experience in life cycle assessment modelling OR script-based computer programming, applied to agricultural production and/or agri-food supply chains
