Finance Officer/Bookkeeper

We are currently recruiting for a Finance Officer / Bookkeeper to join an established financial services organisation based in Wexford on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract.
This is a great opportunity for someone with hands-on finance and accounting experience who is available to start immediately or at short notice. The role is open to candidates from a range of backgrounds, including Bookkeepers, Accounts Assistants, Finance Assistants and Part-Qualified Accountants.
Key Responsibilities
Working closely with the CFO, you will support the day-to-day finance function and assist with the preparation of financial information and reporting requirements.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assisting the CFO with the daily operation of the finance function
- Preparing and maintaining accurate accounting and bookkeeping records
- Performing bank reconciliations and investigating reconciling items
- Processing payroll and supporting payroll-related queries
- Assisting with month-end and year-end processes
- Maintaining and reconciling the trial balance
- Assisting with the preparation of management accounts and financial reports
- Processing journals and financial transactions
- Supporting budgeting and reporting activities
- Assisting with audit preparation and responding to finance-related queries
- Maintaining appropriate financial documentation and records
- Identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner
- Providing general administrative and finance support as required
The Ideal Candidate
We are interested in speaking with candidates who have previous experience in a finance, bookkeeping or accounting position, including:
- Bookkeepers
- Accounts Assistants
- Finance Assistants / Finance Officers
- Accounting Technicians
- Part-Qualified Accountants (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or similar)
Requirements
- Previous experience in a finance, accounts or bookkeeping role
- Experience with bank reconciliations, payroll and month-end processes
- Understanding of trial balance and general accounting principles
- Strong Excel and systems skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and manage deadlines
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Previous experience within financial services would be advantageous but is not essential
- Immediate availability or a short notice period is highly desirable
This is an initial 6-month fixed-term contract based in Wexford and would suit someone looking to gain further experience within a professional financial services environment while working closely with an experienced CFO.
