Flexsource NI are working in partnership with the Agrifood and Bioscience Institute (AFBI) to hire a Senior Grassland and Cereal Agronomist
This is a temporary position, working full time hours for up to 9 months.
Main Duties:
Manage the VCU (Value for cultivation testing) trials for both herbage crops and combinable crops.
Assist with the management of other research projects which currently includes varietal research on multispecies crops, agronomy studies associated with legume crops.
Contribute to PhD student trials including design and management of trials Contribute and assist with ongoing crop agronomy studies
Responsibility for ensuring quality of data obtained from trials and analysis of such data.
Contribute and assist with the writing of scientific papers and both internal and external reports.
Manage staff and resources
Criteria:
PhD in Plant Sceince & 2 years experience in areas related to crop research and testing, OR Honours degree in a relevant field and 4 years experience in areas related to crop research and testing
Demonstratable experience in grassland or combinable crop production management
Be a lead author on peer reviewed scientific articles published in scientific journals in the area of plant science
At least 2 years post graduate experience of managing and analysing large databases in a scientific area of work
