Role Details
- Role: Band 8a Cancer Services Pharmacist
- Days: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 9am to 5pm
- Pay: £36ph
- Start: ASAP
- Length: 12 months
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Cancer Services Pharmacist to join a specialist oncology pharmacy team in North Wales. At Band 8a level, you will provide expert clinical pharmacy input across cancer services, with the role being primarily clinical in focus alongside a small element of pharmacy technical services. Duties will include chemotherapy screening and verification, providing expert clinical pharmacy support to oncology patients, contributing to the development and review of cancer treatment protocols, leading on medicines optimisation within cancer services, supporting and mentoring junior pharmacy staff, and working collaboratively within the oncology multidisciplinary team to ensure the safe and effective delivery of cancer treatments.
Requirements
- Current GPhC registration
- Minimum of 6 months NHS hospital experience within an oncology or cancer services setting
- Proven experience in chemotherapy screening and cancer services pharmacy practice
- Strong knowledge of cancer treatment protocols, cytotoxic medicines management, and BOPA guidelines
- Experience in a senior or lead pharmacy role within cancer services
- Familiarity with pharmacy technical services processes desirable
- Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise, and support junior pharmacy staff
- Excellent clinical decision-making and communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously and manage a complex clinical workload
